Change your email address

Your email address is where we send your sign-in links. You can change it yourself in Settings.
Changing it does not affect Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in.
Steps
1. Open Email & sign-in
Go to Settings, then tap Email & sign-in. Your current address is at the top.
If it reads "No email yet", tap Add instead of Change. Everything else works the same way.
2. Tap Change
The Change email screen opens. It shows your current address at the top.
3. Enter the new address
Type the address you want and tap Send verification link. A message confirms we sent it.
4. Open the link
We send the link to the new address, not the old one. Open it, and the change takes effect.
Nothing changes until you open that link. Your current address keeps working until then, so you cannot get locked out partway through.
Check it worked
Go back to Settings, then Email & sign-in. The address at the top is the new one.
Common problems
"This email is already in use by another Patina Project account."
Another account holds that address. Usually it means you have two accounts without realizing it, because you signed in with a different method at some point. Tap Contact support on that screen, or write to ted@patinaproject.com. We will work out which account is yours and free up the address. Do not make a new account.
"Enter a valid email address."
Look for a typo, a missing @, or a trailing space.
"We could not send the verification link. Try again."
Nothing is wrong with the address. The send itself failed. Try again, and write to ted@patinaproject.com if it keeps failing.
The link never arrives.
Check the spam folder of the new address. The link goes there, not to your current one.
The link no longer works.
Verification links expire. Start again from step 2 and we will send a fresh one.
If your address ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com
That is normal. You signed up with Sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email. Apple gave us a private relay address instead of your real one.
To use the emailed sign-in link, you have to type that address, not your real one.
Follow the steps above to put your own address on the account. Sign in with Apple keeps working afterward, so you can then use either one.
