Change the cover photo of your item

How to choose the cover (thumbnail) photo for your item.

Choosing a cover is a premium feature of the Patina Project Supporter membership. Every membership helps fund our team’s work on the app.

You choose which photo is the cover (thumbnail) of your item. The cover is the photo that shows on your album, in your collection, and on contest entries.

If you don't choose a cover, your item uses its newest photo. A contest submission photo, such as an action shot, counts as a photo. So it can become your cover without you choosing it.

Before you start

You need a Patina Project Supporter membership. Choosing a cover is a Supporter feature. If you're not a Supporter yet, the app shows you how to join when you try to set a cover.

Steps

1. Open the photo

Open your item, then tap the photo that you want as the cover.

2. Open the photo menu

Tap ⋯ at the top of the screen, next to the pencil icon.

3. Tap Set photo as cover

Tap Set photo as cover. If you're not a Supporter, tap Continue to become one, and then do this step again.

Check the result

Go back to your item. The photo you chose is now the cover. Your contest entry also shows this photo, because the entry uses the cover of your item.

Go back to the newest photo

Do the same steps and tap Unset photo as cover. Your item uses its newest photo as the cover again. You can do this even after a Supporter membership ends.

Other Supporter features

A Supporter membership also lets you:

  • pin your favorite photos to your highlights;

  • download your photos at full resolution.

Every membership goes straight into building Patina Project.
